The Winter Practice and The 3 Step Process of Body Cultivation

The Winter Practice:

We are the most Yin during the cold months and at the most risk for experiencing fatigue, depression, anxiety and a lack of creativity.

Explore asana and pranayama practices specifically designed to replenish strength and stamina, balance emotions and draw you inward to receive guidance and inspiration.

Discover how to work with seasonal forces to transform your energy.

The 3 Step Process of Body Cultivation:

You know yoga is deeply transformative on all levels of being but, do you know how to make that work for you?

Every season has a practice to balance the five elements in the body. These practices develop our wellness, longevity, self-mastery and conscious evolution. {Paraphrased from the Ananda Samuccaya, a text on Hatha Yoga and the energy body.} Experience this 3 Step Process yourself and walk away with tools to use for a lifetime.

Your energy is your greatest resource and you can nurture it to heal yourself and others. Energy Yoga Therapy offers a simple method to cultivate and metabolize greater life force energy.

Sunday January 26, 2014

Part One – The Vessel Stage and the Real Reason to Open the Hips.

The first stage of Body Cultivation explores how to make the body a good container for life force and how to mix your personal energy with universal energy. Learn how to turn on your energy body, stop leaking and dissipating your life force and balance and contain your energy for health and vitality. You’ll learn how to safely open your hips to turn on your ‘energy body’ and unleash the body’s natural healing response.

Sunday February 2, 2014

Part Two – The Activation Stage and a Practice to Relieve Depression.

Activation, the second stage of Body Cultivation, is learning how to move the life force along the sushumna, the central energy channel. Winter Practice focuses on clearing water imbalances in the Kidney and Bladder Meridians so the energy circulates through the sushumna. Hypotonic imbalances (too watery) can present as lethargy, depression and confusion. This overly contractive energy leads to organ rigidity, premature aging and difficulty moving forward in life. The focused asana and pranayama sequences presented are natural cures for fatigue and depression.

Part Two Continued – The Activation Stage and A Practice to Relieve Anxiety.

Activation, the second stage of Body Cultivation, is learning how to move the life force along the sushumna, the central energy channel. Winter Practice focuses on clearing water imbalances in the Kidney and Bladder Meridians so the energy circulates through the sushumna. Hypertonic is the flip side of a Kidney/Bladder imbalance. This ‘too dry’ condition presents as cramped or tight muscles, anxiety and restlessness. The energy is too expansive leading to overactivity, exhaustion, cracked dry skin and adrenal depletion. The focused asana and pranayama sequences naturally relieve anxiety and overload by restoring stamina, stability, clarity and calm.

Sunday February 16, 2014 12:30-2:30

Part Three – The Maturation Stage -or- You are the Cup thatHolds the Light.

We’ve all left weekend retreats on a high that came crashing down when we returned to our normal lives. But, to function at higher levels of your potential, you want to know how to Raise Your Baseline Frequency yourself. To paraphrase the Kabbalah, “ You can only see what your instrument is capable of holding.”

Now that you’ve balanced, moved and restored your energy, you’re ready to wring out old blockages with a twisting practice that detoxes the body and the chakras – while establishing new patterns for enhanced energy flow. In this session, you’ll reap the fruit of an intelligent Winter Practice: Stability of Being and The Power to Create.

FAQ:
Q: Can I take them separately or must I take the entire 4 sessions?
A: Take them separately or as a package. They Winter Practice builds and, obviously, the more you do it, the better results you get. That said, do whatever you can and you will benefit.

Q: What level are the workshops? Are they suitable for a beginner?
A: All levels (beginners through teachers) are encouraged to come and all will find new ways to open up. Lots of individual attention in the use of props and hands-on healing adjustments adapt the pose to just about anyone, regardless of your yoga experience. The only caveat is for people suffering from chronic conditions that limit mobility. If in doubt, please ask Elizabeth: info@energyyogatherapy.com.

Q: What is Energy Yoga Therapy?
A: Energy Yoga Therapy is both a therapeutic and transformative style of yoga that combines hatha yoga and energy healing. Students learn the geometry of a pose and how to activate the flow of energy through it. Benefits include: physical healing from injury and illness, enhanced health and vitality, greater emotional well-being and mental clarity.

Q: What is the Winter Practice and why do it?

A: Winter is the most Yin time of year, when our bodies and our energy is the most contracted.   A Winter Practice strengthens the immune system, stabilizes the nervous system and helps us connect
with our deep wisdom. Cold weather asanas include lots of forward bends, and other seated poses, pigeons, kormasanas and twists. Emphasis is given on how to align and open the perineum (the energy body’s negative pole). The result? You restore, heal and receive a creative vision for the expansion of Spring.

Q: What is the 3 Step Process of Body Cultivation?

A: Body Cultivation is a process of preparing the physical, emotional, energetic and mental bodies to release old blockages and establish new patterns that support our unfolding potential.
